7 o'clock

So, its about 10-til-7 and I'm well on my way to having a 'day'. I woke up at 4:15 this morning (15 minutes before my alarm was set to go off, anyway) to let the dogs outside to go to the bathroom. I was thinking about laying back down for a while, but then I started to wake up, so I stayed up. I needed to get up early this morning to [start] checking things off from my long list of Things to Do For School this week. So much to do. So much. But I'm not worried.

This is what I see out my window right now.

Isn't it nice?

Call me silly, but I think I just may be the luckiest girl alive.

Happy Tofurkey Day!

Wow. I think this has been the best Thanksgiving Day EVER! I am so thankful for everything that I have in my life. Truly. Donn came over Tuesday so we could celebrate Thanksgiving together on Wednesday (we decided we should have 'our own' holiday as our way of 'sticking it to the man', hahahaha). Since we're both vegan, we can't really eat anything that our families cook for Thanksgiving, so we decided we would go all-out and have our own vegan feast!

And boy, was it a feast! All that food was for only the two of us, haha! But it was so delicious! We bought a "Tofurkey Feast", which was absolutely amazing and out of this world. We're not entirely convinced that it isn't really truly turkey.... tasted just like the real thing! Plus it was stuffed with stuffing and wild rice...Mmm-mmm! I made garlic mashed potatoes (with soy milk and vegan sour cream) and vegan squash casserole...... man. That was probably my favorite part. I always loved my mom's squash casserole, but its definitely not vegan, so I changed the recipe a bit and voila! It turned out amazing. My mom even said she liked it better than hers! Donn loved it, which of course made me happy. We also had cranberry sauce (from a can, but still delish!) and apple-cranberry potato dumplings (which came with the Tofurkey Feast, and were awesome!). It was a great meal, with great company. Oh, and I also made my vegan pumpkin pie, which Donn also loved. He even picked up some "vegan whipped topping", which translates to vegan whipped cream. No grocery stores around here sell that stuff, so I was so excited that he brought me some! He's so lucky to have a Whole Foods in Annapolis! *jealous*

So, my family left early this morning to go to Norfolk to spend the holiday with my Nanny and my Aunt's family. I wish I could have gone, but I have to be at work at 5 a.m. tomorrow. Gotta love working retail. Bleh. And really, its a good thing I didn't go, because I have TONS of school work to do before Monday. Its not going to be pretty, but its got to be done. I'm just so looking forward to the end of the semester (2 more weeks!!!) so I'll have some days off. I'm definitely planning on hightailing it out of here and going to Annapolis for a few days! ♥

I hope everyone got to enjoy the holiday with those that they love, and had their fill of mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie, and all the turkey...or tofurkey... their hearts could desire!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Warning: Extreme Corniness and Lovey-Dovey Crap Ahead...

Warning: if your gagging reflex is very strong, don't read this post! There is some extremely corny romantic stuff ahead! ;D
Well, once again, its been awhile since I last visited my little blog. It has been a crazy (read: CRAZY) couple of weeks, and I'm not quite done yet. First of all, the semester is about to come crashing to an end, so I am loaded to the brim with projects, presentations, papers, and studying for finals. Next week is the last week of classes, and then its Finals Week, and then..... oh, I can't even wait for break!!
I think its high-time I shared what I've been so mum about the past 2 weeks. I am 100%, utterly and completely, head-over-heels, officially ga-ga for a certain guy... oh yeah. Totally smitten. I'm not kidding when I say that he is wonderful beyond my wildest imagination. Really.
I could go on for hours and hours, probably even days, about how wonderful he is, but for fear of the gagging and wretching that would ensue; so I'll just tell you that I went to Annapolis to hang out Friday/Saturday. It was a blast, of course. Unfortunately, it looks like Lani isn't ready to deal with all of this (and that's a really long story that I'd really rather not talk about, like, ever). But as sad as I am about that whole situation, my happiness with Donn totally eclipses anything bad. Everything is so sparkly and bright now that I have him. We are invincible together. I think we're probably going to attempt complete world domination. ;)
We wanted to spend Thanksgiving together, but since we are just so punk-rock, we've decided that are too cool for Thanksgiving on Thursday; instead we're celebrating on Wednesday (just to 'stick it to the Man', of course). So I picked up some groceries today, and he's going to the store tonight to pick up our Tofurkey (did I mention its a totally Vegan Thanksgiving?) and the cranberry sauce I forgot, and then coming straight here when he gets off work at 7:30 tomorrow morning. I'm so excited. Its going to be a great Thanksgiving!

What a week.

Wow. That's all I can say about this past week. Its been.....interesting. Some parts were really great, others were really awful. Its like, for everything good that happened, something bad happened right afterward.
I have a new boy.... but now my best friend is really mad at me/us... he's her brother. And its a very, very long story, but I'm really just hoping that she will eventually come around and stop being mad at us. He came to visit on Sunday and didn't leave until last night...we just had too much fun together. It was so nice.
We went to Starbucks yesterday evening. We stayed and talked for a long time, and had a great time. And when we got back to my house, we found out that my mom was in a car accident while we were gone. She's fine, but her van was definitely damaged. Not totalled, I don't think, but still. So that was bad.
Then, Don left to go back to Annapolis. He called me on his way home to tell me that he had gotten pulled over for speeding (not cool), but the really weird part was that the cops actually searched his car for drugs!! What?! If you actually KNOW Don, you know that's the most ridiculous accusation ever. But it gets worse - not only were there 3 cop cars on the scene, and they searched his car, but then the officer actually tried to tell him that they had found marijuana in his car. WHAT?! He said he actually just laughed because the whole thing was so ridiculous. When Don refused to admit that there were any drugs in his car, or that he even knows someone who uses drugs (which he doesn't), the cop just said, "Oh, well, it wasn't enough for me to charge you anyway, so I guess we'll just forget about it". Oh my god. So, basically, these small-town cops were just trying to make him nervous and hopefully admit to something that they THOUGHT they could get him for, and it was probably because of his looks. He has lots of tattoos, and he drives a yellow car. And he was probably listening to metal or something. But come on, seriously? That's not right. The whole thing was so ridiculous. I can't even believe it. Its so wrong to judge people by their appearances... I totally understand why cops do it, and that it makes their job easier, but they just wouldn't give it a rest. They wasted his time and theirs. Unbelievable.
So, anyway, I have so much to do this week, its not even funny. I honestly don't know how I'm going to get anything done. Really. I have 4 projects to do by Dec. 1. Big projects. And then its Finals Week. Ohmygod. I'm so stressed out. I just want this semester to be over and done with. Really.
I have to go apply for a passport this morning to go to Curacao in January. I'm pretty excited, but nervous too because I'm such a procrastinator. I hope there isn't a long wait to get it processed! And, last but not least, I have a runny nose....again. I just kicked the last cold, and I'm starting to feel under the weather again! What's up with this?!

Life is good.

Phew, this past week flew by! Everything is starting to come to a close at school...its hard to believe there are only a few weeks left in the semester! I really need to get a grip on that fact, because I have tons of projects and stuff to do before finals that I haven't even started to THINK about yet. Eek. Sometimes I wish I wasn't such a procrastinator! But somehow it just works out like that for me. Haha.
I have tons of stuff to do today before I have to go to work at 11:00. Laundry, cleaning out the mouse's cage, vacuuming, put new sheets on the bed, take the pictures of Chris off my wall (haven't gotten around to that yet, oops! haha)... sorry my posts have been so short (and probably really uninteresting!)... I have a lot of things to tell but its just not the right time yet. Hopefully soon!
Here's a really funny/stupid video to make up for my lack of words. Enjoy!

What's new, gumshoe?

Well. Its been quite an interesting couple of days since my last post. The Bayside show Sunday was great, of course. After the show was even better: there has been a total lack of sleep for 36 hours. Yes. I was awake for 36 hours between Sunday and Monday. Definitely didn't feel good after that, but it was totally worth it. Perhaps one of the best times of my entire life.
After coming home on Monday, I literally passed out at the foot of my mom's bed....at 4;30 in the afternoon. I woke up around 9:00 when Lani called me, talked to her for an hour or so I think, and then passed out again until 5:30 yesterday morning. Phew. What a weekend.
I have a whoooole bunch of stuff to do the rest of this week... need to make an appt. to get my passport (yikes!), fill out all sorts of paperwork for the Curacao trip, and loads of homework and studying. Its hard to believe there are only 3 weeks of classes left before finals! It feels like the semester just began! Not that I'm complaining....I'm definitely looking forward to a nice little break!

July in November

Ok, so today it was in the mid 70s... that's just not right. Its November! The department stores have officially decked the halls and are blaring Christmas music 24/7, and yet it feels like a balmy summer day. Oh yeah, and I live in Pennsylvania. What?! I'm just totally thrown for a loop with weather like this. I finally get used to the idea that its now "Autumn" and embrace the layers of clothes, and then its 75 degrees. Curses.
So anyway, I'm off my soapbox. I feel really sleepy today. Probably because, oh look, its 5:30 and the sun has already disappeared behind the horizon. Gahh. (Oh, there I go again - sorry!). Anyhoo. I'm sleepy. I worked until 4 today, then rushed over to the post office to pick up the paperwork for my passport....eep! I'm so excited for Curacao! It finally seems "real"... I've got stacks of paperwork to fill out for passports, insurance, dive equipment, packing lists..... yikes!

I'm super-psyched for this weekend, too - my most favorite Aunt Debbie is coming to visit this weekend (unfortunately, I probably won't even see much of her because of work, but still - we always have Coffee Club in the mornings!), and Sunday after work I'm heading back to Annapolis to go see Bayside with my besties!

And, because the sun has already completely set, and I therefore have no light with which to take pretty pictures for you today, I leave you with a 4-year old picture of my dog. Because, really, who doesn't like puppies? Aww!

Some sketches

I'm feeling a little sketchy today...ha-ha.

All of my restlessness is being channeled into a few sketches. Not exactly new, but a sort of reincarnation of one of my favorites. I'm actually thinking of a half-sleeve tattoo with this guy.... but I have no idea what else. The [chrysanthemum?] thing at the top is....well, I don't know. I seem to like repetitive shapes/patterns/etc. and I just doodled that. I don't really know what else should go in that huge space, but I really like the whale at the bottom. I thought of a ship, but it would look like the ship is hovering above the whale. Weird.

Victory!

(I borrowed this picture from Ashley, its the best one I've seen)

Oh, what a beautiful day! I can't even express how excited/relieved/happy/proud/overwhelmed I am by yesterday's election. What an amazing event, perhaps the most historic turning point for our nation of my generation. I couldn't be more pleased.

I wish I could have been out and about last night... I watched most of the election on tv last night (until I fell asleep right before 11:00! I missed the big announcement! I was so mad at myself!) and the excitement in the air was almost palpable. I had butterflies in my stomach all day yesterday, but they were the good, excited kind. The fact that I had like 4 cups of coffee throughout the day yesterday may or may not have contributed to thoes butterflies....

This week is turning out to be really great so far - this past Sunday I went to a concert with Lani and her bro Don... awesome, as always. I baked a vegan pineapple upsidedown cake for Don, which was a big hit, yay.

A few of my classes have been cancelled this week for no reason at all, except to sort-of give us students some free time to vote/celebrate the outcome of the election, which is nice. I only have 1 class today, and the only reason I have to go is to hand in a paper....and then we're allowed to leave. Kind of sucks that I have to drive 1/2 hour to hand in a paper, but...maybe I'll get some Starbucks before I go home. hehe.

I also have a few projects up my sleeve right now. They're actually going to be Christmas presents, so I unfortunately can't share them right now, but I might give a few little sneak peeks soon....

Ok, I'm really hungry and I'm starting to ramble, so I think that's it for now. Have super-lovely days!
