What I'm wearing today

I was doing some blog-reading this morning, and was totally inspired
by this post over at Hundy & Undy:

picture borrowed from Hundy & Undy

I thought, "I can do that!"
So, I did!

Sweater: GAP (like 8 years ago, for real)
Skirt: Charlotte Russe
Leggings: Rue21
Boots: Target
Hat: Forever21 (3 years ago)

P.S. I've definitely got shorts on under that skirt. ;-)

Please excuse my silly face.
Apparently I'm into making weird facial expressions today.

Wearing my new necklace!

Just a quick post to show-off my new necklace from Smitten & Hazel!

I was feeling nautical today (when am I not??) and this necklace suits my mood perfectly!
It reminds me of ships' flags ♥

And no, I won't take that hat off. Its so cozy and warm! Hehe.
OK, I'm off to the antique mall! Hopefully I'll be back later with pictures of my bounty!

♥ ♥ ♥

My second outfit post!

Brrrr! You guys.... it was 22 degrees outside when I took these!! And windy!
Hence the funny eyes-closed face in the third picture, below. ;-)

Sweater - Target
Skirt - U.O.
Tights - Rue21
Socks - thrifted
Boots - U.O.
Belt - Kohls
Hat - Volcom

I think I'm going to go to the antique mall in a little while to browse...and hopefully find some things for the shop! Thrifting has been pretty "meh" lately. But half the fun is in the search, right?
I also need to stop at Michaels and pick up a paint brush for a secret Project Restyle mission! I started it yesterday, but the paintbrushes I have weren't working for my purposes.... (are you curious yet?? hehe)
And then I have to pick the kiddos up from school at 2:30 and babysit for a little while. The girls must have been inspired by Ethan's "Valintin" box; they both had little handmade presents for me yesterday. So cute.

Check back later for this week's 52 Weeks roundup, and my contribution for the week!

I'm so green

Woohoo, my first real outfit post!
Thanks to my new tripod, of course  ;)

dress: Target   cardigan: Target   tights: Target   socks: Target
boots: Sam & Libby   scarf: hand-me-up from little sister   hat: Nirvanna Designs

Uhh...I didn't actually realize that more than half of this outfit was from Target until I started typing this...hehe. What can I say? The clothes are cute and inexpensive...both pluses in my book!

Anyway, it was fun taking this pictures... I feel slightly goofy, but at least this is in my own backyard, haha. I definitely plan on taking more outfit pictures, so bare with me while I practice and get the hang of this! ;)

I think I'm going to make a Borders run to browse the January magazines and maybe pick up a new journal.... I want to start an inspiration journal, separate from my art journal....hmmmm....

What to wear, what to wear?

This is pretty much what I'll be wearing tomorrow for the first day of school.

From the bottom, up:
- Coral and pearl sandals (Target)
- Black shorts (Charlotte Russe)
- White embellished shirt (not the same as above; seen here)
- black faux-croc satchel (Target; similar to pictured)

I'm super-excited for school to start tomorrow - its my last semester! And, its going to be my easiest semester yet. I only have 3 'real' classes, plus my research. I only have 1 class on Thursdays and Fridays, and I'll have plenty of time each day to get all of my homework done so I can relax at home in the evenings. I'm going to be babysitting Dr. C's children a few days a week, too, so I'll have a little bit of an income - yay!

The Thrifting Gods Have Smiled...

Ok, this dress was totally supposed to be for the shop, but.....yeah, I think I'm keeping it. The shoes are absolutely amazing...they're brand spankin' new. Did I mention they were only $6!?
Scarf.
Amazing sweater. Its just perfect for Fall, with embroidered leaves and flowers in bright, warm hues.
The shoestring was broken on one of the shoes, so I replaced them with red/pink twine.
This is the dress I got at Target the other day, but the hat and gloves were thrifted.
Please ignore the shell-shocked look on my face. I just finished my Stats homework, and I'm tired. So there.

First day of school!

Well, its official - today is the first day of school! My little sister is already on campus for her first day of college, how cute. She already called me and asked what she should be doing between classes...haha. I suggested she go to the computer lab, or the library, or Starbucks..... she decided to call a new guy-friend to see if he wanted to go to the mall. Ha!
My first class doesn't start until 3:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays (although Monday nights I will be on campus until 9:15, yuck), so that's cool. I'm completely ready to go already, though! Haha! I'm so excited, just like a little kid!
Here's my outfit:
My favorite top:
With matching red shoes, of course!
I'm so mad about this planner I bought. Its the exact same one that I had last year, except in a different color. So I assumed it would be exactly the same on the inside. NO. This one didn't have a place to write in your class schedule, so I had to draw out my own and tape it to the inside. How ghetto is that?!
And this is completely un-related, but I wanted to share it anyway. My mama found this for me at a yard sale this weekend. Isn't it the cutest thing ever?!

Now I'm pretty much just sitting here, twiddling my thumbs until its time to leave. I need to go a little early today so I can stop at the police building to buy a parking permit and.....go to Starbucks! Hahaha!

Moonlight

I got this cute, comfy nightgown (Victoria's Secret!) at the Goodwill today for $3. And my mom laughed at me for getting this, but I think its awesome - its a vintage cheerleading (or perhaps a majorette?) outfit! Its in great condition, and it actually looks cute on me! I have perfect white boots and a little red cardigan that I think will look adorable. Laugh all you want, Mom, I like it! :P

That was pretty much my whole day. I went over to Chris' house and we watched Atonement. I had seen it in the theatre when it first came out. He hadn't seen it yet. I cried. Again.

In money-spending news, I just ordered a back-issue of Herbivore magazine, which I only discovered today. What can I say? It was only $3.

Four-Eyes

They got mixed reviews when I debuted them at work today. Girls didn't seem to like them much, but the boys seem to like 'em (and that's what counts, right?). Hahaha! Most importantly, I love them!

Today

So, I'm getting ready for work today... I really don't want to go. I'm so tired. But, alas, I'm also poor, so I must work my eight hours today. Sigh.
At least I have these to look forward to:

According to the UPS tracking site, they should be delivered today. I'll be wearing one of them to my friend Heather's wedding tomorrow; I'm just not sure which one. I think probably the blue one, because the theme of her wedding is Cinderella (yes.), and the blue one reminds me of Cinderella's blue dress. I'm mad though, because I just saw on the Forever21 site that the blue one is now on sale! I just ordered it a few days ago! That's not fair. I think I'll be calling customer service on that one.

I also wanted to share this amazing project I found last night (via ) by Yeondoo Jung. Check this out. Here's my favorite shot:

Refresh

That's my goal for this week: Refresh! I have been in a "spring-cleaning" mode for the past week. I just felt like it was time to go through everything, get organized, and cleanse my surroundings. I feel so refreshed when I spruce up my place. I'm not really getting rid of too much... mostly I'm packing away my 'things' (read: decorative junk that takes up space) from my room. I love them, I just don't need them in my tiny room. Someday when I move out again, I will have enough stuff to fill an entire house. But for now, I have one tiny room.
And its already filled.
So far, everything's going well. Its just very overwhelming. We're pulling everything out of the shed, going through it, putting it in piles: "keep", "donate", "trash"; then tomorrow we're going to organize the "keeps", donate the "donates", and...well, you get the idea.
In the midst of my cleaning, I came across some bins full of clothes I didn't want anymore. I picked out a handful of things that will be just perfect for.....a secret project for the shop! I won't say too much, but I will hint that this little guy may be involved in some way.... Hmmm.....
I also found some of my vintage heels that I've collected in the past few years.

How freakin' great are these?

Now, I'm definitely not saying this is a good thing (please, don't think I'm into furs + leather. Ew. No.); but these are really alligator skin. I didn't even realize it when I bought them. I just liked the shape and the pattern. It wasn't until I got them home that I read the inside of the shoe and saw that they were real alligator leather. But anyway, they're vintage. I got them at the Goodwill for $3. I did a search one time on Ebay for the brand (they're called Shenanigans), but I can't find any info about the brand now. If anyone knows anything, I'd be interested in the history so i could figure out how old these shoes are.

I also found these, and because they're about a half-size too small for me, they are now available in le shop. They're super cute and pretty comfortable, and cheap!!

These are NOT real reptile skin...they are 100% Vegan-friendly!

I've been a bad, bad blogger....

Oh, dear! Its been entirely too long since I've last popped my little head in here to say hello! Please accept my apologies, and the following excuses:
  1. I've been terribly bogged-down with school work. Every time I think to myself "Oh, just finish this assignment a bit early, and you'll be running ahead of schedule! Then you'll have plenty of free time to actually enjoy yourself and have a life!" I'm sadly brought crashing back down to Earth by yet. another. assignment. (But, in that same vein, I did actually just finish my last paper for this week - so far - and now have a few minutes of free time before getting back to studying for a quiz later today and a huge exam tomorrow!)
  2. Any time that is not spent either physically at school or studying/doing homework, I am of course, at work. Really. Its getting to be ridiculous.
  3. I really haven't had much to blog about, which is terribly depressing. Why? See the above 2 excuses.

So, how is it I'm home, and not doing any school work right now? Well. Its actually a funny story. I went to work at 6:30 this morning, as I have been doing every Monday and Wednesday since school started. Only apparently I was supposed to work at 6:30 PM today, not AM. Crap. So I turned around and came back home, which is actually quite lovely because now I'm fully awake (much earlier than I would have been if I knew I was supposed to work in the evening, since I don't have to be at school until 2:00 today), and I was able to churn out a paper that I've been putting off for at least a week in only about an hour. I seem to be more productive in the early morning hours...maybe my brain is more fresh in the morning. I don't know! Haha.

So what's new? Hmm...

I have some new residents in my garden:

Yes, that is an enormous monster-spider that has taken up residence in my birdhouse. I am so creeped out by this, words escape me.

And this, thank goodness, is a rubber snake that my grandma thought it would be funny to hide in my tomato plant. I actually thought it was real for a second...so I poked it. It didn't move. I took it out and threw it on the ground, and every day its back in that tomato plant. So I just leave it there now. :) I'm actually not scared of snakes, is the funny thing... but one time my sister hid one in a pile of leaves while we were cleaning out the shed, and it definitely scared me. So now they always try to do that to me...not fair!

Last week my mom made some delicious chicken parmesan, and I added some fresh basil from my garden to her sauce.... it was so delicious! Too bad the picture came out so blurry....

This is my new favorite nail polish color...its called Twist and Shout, and I just love it. I think other people think I'm crazy though. I had one customer at work say, "Oh, look, you're ready for Halloween early!"..... and she was serious. That kinda hurt my feelings. But I still love it! My manager astutely observed that it matched his Mt. Dew, too. *rolls eyes*

This is my new favorite outfit. I love Fall clothes so much! Layers, layers, layers and knee socks! I wore this yesterday (I've had each piece for a long time, but that's the first time I combined them like this), and I got so many compliments! My comm. professor told me I'm a stylish girl! Haha. That always makes me feel good.

I made a big sale last week - my biggest yet! Though, I admit, I'm sad to say goodbye to my deer plaques...

At least I know they're going to live with a very sweet girl in the UK! I've made her promise to send me pictures of them hanging in her apartment... what a strange feeling to know that something you created will hang on the wall in an apartment of a person you've never met, on a different continent. Amazing.

I signed up for a free trial of Netflix earlier this week (but yesterday I found out that my dad signed up too so I can cancel mine), and I've watched some interesting movies...

The Calcium Kid

Loved it. Absolutely hilarious mockumentary, starring my boyfriend, Orlando Bloom.

Alice

Really not sure what I think about this one..... very strange. Disturbing might be a better word. I liked the little skeleton-animals, but not a big fan of Alice's up-close mouth with crooked yellow baby-teeth, constantly whining "Pleeeeeease, sirrrrr" in the same irritating tone. Meh.

Blood Tea and Red String

I saw this at Miss Marjorie's recommendation. It was cool, but not at all what I was expecting. Actually, I have no idea what I was expecting, but whatever it was, I still felt surprised after it ended. Cute, slightly disturbing... see for yourselves. PS - there's a whinnying turtle with a tiny saddle. Too cute!

Oh, and I finally got around to watching An Inconvenient Truth. I loved it. Loved it! Besides the few points of regression and melodramatic life-lesson stories by Mr. Gore, I thought it was fabulous. Of course, I would think so because his graphs and data are precisely the things that my major studies are concerned with - in fact, I've already seen all of that data in my classes this semester, although none of my professors have even made mention of the documentary. I guess its because they don't want to say yay or nay to the controversial film.... but either way, I found it absolutely fascinating and well done. Anybody else like it, or not like it? Anybody care to share their opinion about it? This is what I'm studying in school, and I'd like to know first-hand what other people have to say about it!

Ok, I really must stop putting off studying for my Geology quiz and Problems of the Environment exam. At least those are 2 classes that I really enjoy! Hopefully I'll have some more free time again soon, and I'll see you again! :)

All things cute

Piles upon piles of new clothes!!

This dress to wear to Lauren's wedding (since its garden-themed.... there's even a little grasshopper on the dress!)

This adorable silk top with a crafty little girl on it, and her flowery boots and dress forms...

And here's my dress from Papaya!
I got lots of other stuff, too, but its very difficult to take pictures of oneself and not look like a [complete] idiot. So I'll leave the rest to your imagination!

And now for more cuteness!

KITTENS!!!

Apparently my purse was quite fascinating and needed to be explored very thoroughly!

That lil' orange cutie is my future-kitty! For now he goes by Porkchop, but mom's not so keen on that name....we'll see! ;)

And the cutest of them all....Duffy!

Sleeping on my stuffed mooses this morning.
