Lucky, lucky me!

Oh, what luck! I'm in State College visiting le Boy right now, and boy am I have some luck! We went to the Goodwill last night, where I found the cutest, most comfortable little Mary-Jane flats for like $3. They were having a store-wide 50% off sale! I also got some great children's books, some presents for my friend Alex, a pretty skirt, and the cutest little teacup ever! All for $7.

Then today, we got up bright and early and set out in search of yard sales. We really didn't find as many yard sales as we were hoping to, but what we found was amazing! (I'm sure there were tons more yard sales, we just didn't know where to even start....State College is a pretty big city!). I found the most perfect, beautiful, vintage locket-brooch ever. It had pictures of 2 little kids in it, but I took them out and I'm going to put pictures of young Chris and I in it. Its beautiful! I will definitely put up some pictures of that as soon as I get home. I also got an awesome 3-bag laundry sorter by Swell by Cynthia Rowley....brand new, in the box, for $3. Love it. And... what else... a cute snowman-thing for my mom, because she loves snowmen... Oh! And some really fabulous vintage fabric with wild animals all over it.... I got a pretty fat wad of that, for $3. The woman I bought it from had TONS of lace, and seam binding, and sewing stuff... she is a seamstress, and does some work for a local bridal store here, too. She was really nice and gave me her business card, and told me to call her if I ever had any questions about sewing or anything, since I told her I'm only a novice. I got some pretty lace and trimmings, too, but I controlled my urge and only got a little itty bitty bit.

Now, Chris is having lunch (I'm still stuffed from the disgusting McD's breakfast we had earlier...bleh. I knew there was a reason I haven't eaten there in a few years), and watching Friday. Stupid movie. I'm wearing my pretty new gauzy, white babydoll dress (ala Target!) and new brooch, I've got my iPod strapped to my head, and I'm blogging to you, my friends! We're going to Plato's Closet, a really cool consignment shop, in a little while (after he's done with his hot dogs, haha!), where I plan on finding the perfect big bag for summer, and maybe some more cute shoes? Hmm....

Sorry for the wordiness, and no pictures. I will remedy that as soon as I get home (tomorrow?).

Happy Saturday!

Mighty Little Man (Dancing Gabe Version)

Mighty Little Man (Dancing Gabe Version)

This just makes me smile :)

I don't know if anyone else out there listens to Steve Burns, but I think you should. I love this song. I love this video. And I love that this dude came from Blues Clues and is still a talented musician (who hangs out with The Flaming Lips, nonetheless). Yay for Steve.

A Softie Kind of Day

I hurt my back really bad yesterday at work... I'm so mad at myself, because I didn't tell any supervisors at the time. It really didn't hurt when I did it! I didn't even give it a second thought. By the time I got home last night, it was really starting to hurt, and this morning when I woke up, I could hardly even stand. I walked around like a little old man most of the day. Oh, and I didn't go to visit Chris today like I had planned. I thought maybe I should take it easy today, and driving 2 1/2 hours isn't what I call taking it easy. So instead of made a couple of new sweeties!

Meet Edie.... she's the younger sister of Elizabeth, whom I made a few weeks ago.

Edie is a bit mod, with her flashy pink leggings and her hair cut in a bob. She likes to make fun of Elizabeth for being so prim and proper all the time!

And this is my Little Imp.... look at the way he teases little Porkchop! Shame on him!

My back feels much better now, just from stretching it a little throughout the day, and taking lots of Ibuprofen! I'm sure its just a strained muscle, but it hurts all the same! I do plan on going to State College tomorrow to visit my boy... he's only been gone for 1 week, and I miss him like crazy! So tomorrow I shall make the trek, and spend my nice long weekend with him.

I did some other semi-fun stuff today, too.....let's see.....

Checked on my flowers:

My Tiny 'Tunias finally came to life! They were pretty dead when I bought them for like a quarter at Lowes.... now they're beautiful! And just look at my Impatiens go!

And we have just 1 lily blooming in the front yard.... hopefully the rest of my lilies will open up soon!

Played with the Sweetest Monster:

And.....well, I guess that's about it. Ok, I didn't do much today. But I'm injured, so its perfectly legit! :P

I hope you all had much better days today than I did!

xoxo

What a day!

Well! I must say, I had quite an interesting day today.
I must have looked extra-special today, or something, because I got asked out twice! That doesn't happen to me very often.... how odd! My mom said my hair looks especially nice today.... I guess maybe that's what does it? Haha!
Oooh! I have to go, we're leaving to go pick my sister up. She's back from Costa Rica!!!

Another lazy day, and I don't wanna go to work!

Oh, bleh. What a horribly bleh-ish day. There's nothing really wrong with today, but.... still, I feel like laying around in my fuzzy blue robe, procrastinating getting ready for work just a little while longer. Work... hm.... I think maybe that's why I feel so out of sorts today. I hate working the late shift! I'm used to going in at 6:00 in the morning, and being done by 3-ish, and having the rest of my day to myself. Not these days! Work from 4-11 pm is just awful. Having that hanging over my head all day makes me feel so un-productive and anxious, like I can't possibly do anything that I wanted to do today because I have to go to work later. Silly, I know, but true just the same.

The only scrap of productivity that I have to show for the day is my 100th heart on Etsy. That does make one feel a bit loved, doesn't it? (Of course, it may have something to do with the fact that I offered a little promotion of 10% off, plus free shipping and extra goodies for my 100th heart, should they place an order)....but I'd like to think that I'm really loved. ;)

Maybe I'll get something exciting in the mail today.... like one of these, perhaps?

I'm just so excited to get my little strawberry!

Well, its 1:30....I really should start at least thinking about stopping my procrastination.... in a little while....... ;)

I hope you all have very lovely Wednesdays!

Oh! And one more thing - I'm going to be out of town, visiting this handsome fella, until Saturday, so I should wish you all happy weekends, too!

Check out my treasury!

The treasury has been broken all evening, so I thought it was just a fluke that I got one... but I really did! :)

And now, my friends, I'm going to bed. I'm a sleepy-head!

I give it an A+++ !!

Well, that settles it. I absolutely love Beatrix Potter and her army of little friends.
That is most definitely my new favorite movie. Next in order? I must have that book Beatrix Potter: A Life in Nature
On a side note: I never knew it, but it turns out that Chris also loves Beatrix Potter. His baby book was Beatrix Potter, and he had the baby's dining set and nursery stuff as a child. How cute!

The Mysterious Dodo and Le Cirque du Mousee

2 new paintings, hanging on my banner to dry!

I painted for hours today.... I'm afraid it takes me quite a bit of time to perfect the shading, as I have hardly any experience in painting.... though I am quite pleased with the results! The Mysterious Dodo was first, but I believe Le Cirque du Mouse is my favorite! Especially the little purple pom-pom on his hat!

And now, I am finally watching Miss Potter! :)

I finally got one!

cameo pin by The Black Apple

Of these!
I have been waiting patiently for these to be available in the shop, and today I snapped one up! I actually had a second pin and a hedgie sketchbook in my shopping cart, and by the time I went to check out, they weren't available anymore! That's amazing! I can't imagine things selling out that quickly!! Congratulations to Emily on another very succesful shop update!!!
Besides finally grabbing up the perfect brooch (hooray!), I haven't done too much today.... I woke up at 11 o'clock (yikes!) with a pounding migraine, so I kind of just laid around until about an hour ago. I watched The Other Sister (I love that movie so very much!), and now I'm watching The Ghose and the Darkness.... pretty good, so far.
I am going to watch Miss Potter at some point today, and maybe do a little more painting, since my headache is finally going away.
Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Silly me!

Oh dear, I did something silly today!
I went to work at 7 o'clock this morning (scheduled 7-11), and when I tried to clock-in, it rejected me and said I was too early.... I'm scheduled to work 7 PM to 11 PM tonight! Silly, silly me! But... isn't that the stupidest shift you've ever heard of? What's the point of having me work for 4 hours tonight, until 11 pm, on a Monday?!

So, I made the best of my blunder, and did some shopping while I was at work. I picked up a few more wood plaques, and spent my entire day painting these:
Le Petit Oiseau Bleu

Le Petit Daine
They look nice hanging together, don't they?

They're all available in the shop!

And, I sold the little Nesting Bunnies last night! Hooray! They're on their way to live with their new owner, Tamara, in Louisiana! Check out her shop, its pretty amazing!

And now, I have to start getting ready for work (*grumble*)

*Shop Update*!!!

Le Petit Cerf

Woo hoo! My first painting is now in the shop!

(Its title is French because I painted it while watching A Very Long Engagement... a wonderful movie....le sigh.)

Also in the shop:

They come packaged in a cute little shredded-paper "nest", all tied up in an organza sack.

I started working on my other top-secret project, and got a lot done, but its still not quite done. I have lots more surprises coming soon!

A bit of this, a bit of that, and I'm stuffed!

Well, I had big plans for the shop today, but alas, I fulfilled none of them. Instead, I went to the best Chinese buffet in the whole world with my Daddy. Which is equally as fun, immensely more satisfying (to the stomach, anyway), and wayyyyy more tiring! I can hardly walk after eating there. Its just so darn delicious, and they have all-you-can-eat crab legs (and they're actually GOOD crab legs!) You have to practically roll me out of there! ;)

Anyway, I did do a bit of supply-shopping today, so I at least stayed somewhat on-track. I got lots of pretty little this-and-thats for a top secret new project I'm working on for the shop. Its very hush-hush!

Best of all, when I got home from eating too much, I had sold these:

And these!Oh, it makes me so happy to sell things, especially multiple things! Yay, hooray!

Oh!

And I finally found nice frames for my favorite little prints ever! I bought them forever ago from Belle and Boo (then-called millymollymandy; she has a new blog, too), and I covet them something awful... and could not, for the life of me, find pretty frames for them. Until today. At the dollar store, nonetheless. *shrugs* Anyway, I'm so happy I can display them now!
And now, I must lay me down to sleep. I have to be at work at 6:30 tomorrow morning (bleh), so I bid you adieu, gute nacht!

The sweetest vintage owl, and other yard sale finds

Hello, and happy Fridays to you all!

I had a lovely day today, hanging out with my dear friend Lauren all day.

A picture I borrowed from Shianne's facebook, from Lauren and Mike's wedding, since my camera battery died during the wedding, and I never put any pictures up.

We left bright and early this morning to go to an Amish bent-n-dent grocery store in Shippensburg called B.B.'s. If you've never been to a B-n-D, you simply must. They stock groceries that have smashed boxes, or cans that have a dent in them, or whatnot. You have to be careful to check expiration dates, because sometimes the food is slightly dated, but other than that, its fantastic! I left with about 6 bags filled, and I spent a grand total of $17. And its name-brand stuff, too. I love B.B.'s!

We spied many a yard sale on our way to B.B.'s, so we quickly stashed the groceries at Lauren's house and went yard saleing. There was one just across from her house, so we walked over to it. At first glance, it didn't look like much, but I found some really neat stuff! I got this vintage wooden.....thing......with cute little mushrooms and frogs on it:

Its a little shabby (*ahem*.....loved), but I love it all the same.

And these adorable little figurines:

2 bunnies, 2 kitties, and 2 mice

We stopped at a couple of other yard sales, but didn't find anything at all. Unsatisfied that this should be the end of our quest, we made a last-ditch effort at finding some treasures at one of our local Goodwills, where I found this:

The top of his head lifts off so you can hide treasures inside of him! He is my new Most Favorite Thing. ♥

I also got a big old tea-tin filled with hundreds of vintage buttons! The tin itself is fairly hideous, so I didn't bother taking pictures of it. I did, however, spend the better half of my evening sorting the buttons into Beautiful, Good-Enough, or Downright Awful piles. Thankfully there were quite a few in the finished Beautiful pile! I have big plans for these buttons....

"Plans? What plans?" you ask.

I'm not telling...yet! :)

And now, I'm going to lay in my cozy bed with my sleepy little kitten and watch Miss Potter, which I've heard is fabulous.

Goodnight!

And some Good Things!

Oh bother, I just remembered that I wanted to share some really, really Good Things with you!
Blue Ribbon Berries by A. Bel Studio. I am so in love with these... you can choose to have them scented in vanilla, strawberry, or lavender (or unscented). I love the ones with the little chenille pom poms on them.... I think I'm about to order one.....

How did I ever miss this shop? I just don't know. Sugar Sugar may in fact be one of the most lovely shops I have ever seen.... its filled to the brim with vintage goodie-bags, complete with trimmings wrapped around painted wooden clothespins and vintage stickers. The shop's proprietor, Leesiebella, also has a lovely blog, here.

I came across these beautiful buttons, from Tilly Bloom, in my search for the perfect brooch... I love the nest one! They also might be comign to live with me soon...

I wish that I could afford this ring. And that I wouldn't rip my own finger off while wearing it. Its just so darn cute!

Ok, that's my list of wonderful things for today. I should try to get some sleep now, but I'm still kind of wired from my coffee excursion earlier this evening. I'm going shopping with my friend Lauren at the Bent-n-Dent tomorrow morning around 8:00, so I'll have to get up early...

Goodnight, and happy Thursdays to you all!

Little Monsters

And finally, here are my sweet little monsters, playing together.

The kitten is, of course, the worst monster of all. Look at him pulling my sweet Duffy's beard!

I love this picture because of the ferocious look on Duffy's face. He is, in fact, only yawning in this picture. He's too sweet to make a mean face like that!
Peering over the edge of the bed at Kitty - Monster
Who intimidates who?

My favorite place in the whole world

These were all taken at Caledonia State Park, Chris and I's favorite place to go walking.

This looked very Pan's-Labyrinth-y to me :)

With a slush-puppy from Twin Kiss, and a big stick at hand

He's such a little boy at heart. ♥
